Use some or all of the following energy saving tips and you should see a great return on your outlay, financially you could
save up to £300 off your annual energy bill and at the same time reduce your households carbon emissions by around 2 tonnes.


Use Energy saving lightbulbs

Switch to energy saving light bulbs, they last up to 12 times
longer than ordinary bulbs, and each bulb you fit can save
you up to £100 over the bulbs lifetime. They are manufactured
in a growing range of styles and fitting and are getting
cheaper all the time.

Energy saving light bulbs have a number of advantages over traditional light bulbs:

  • They are 5 times brighter than traditional light bulbs.

  • Use 80% less power than traditional light bulbs.

  • Most bulbs have a 10 year life span at 3 hours of use a day meaning less changing of light bulbs needed. 

  • Saving energy helps the environment by reducing the expected impacts of climate change.
Lighting In most homes accounts for 10-15% of the electricity
bill. Replacing old and inefficient light bulbs will reduce the
cost of lighting your home significantly. It is possible to save
up to £9 per year per bulb by replacing your incandescent
bulbs with energy efficient versions as available in our online
shop. This means that your investment will be paid off within

Insulate your loft
Install loft insulation to 250 mm thickness and you
could save yourself up to £220 each and every year.

Stand-by mode
Many electrical appliances are left in 'stand-by' mode.
Avoid this whenever possible as the unit will still
consume electricity. Switch off at the mains wherever
it is possible.

Heating and hot water

Using a high efficiency condensing boiler with heating
controls could save you between £190 and £240 a year.
It'll also significantly cut your home's CO2 emissions as
